7 Techniques To Empower Your Employees

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve Economic Data reports, Americans are quitting their jobs at an all-time high. In July 2021 alone, 4 million Americans quit their jobs, and the numbers don't seem to be decreasing.

We at GIG have some thoughts. We believe in the power of people and strive to empower and engage everyone at every level to be better. In the last year, we retained valuable employees, onboarded unbelievable talent, and grew our footprint across the country.

Here are the seven techniques we use to empower our employees:

1. Communicate a clear vision & make sure everyone is on the same page

A clear vision allows our team to anticipate and understand each task's purpose and work cohesively to accomplish the overarching goal.

A successful business relies on teamwork and each individual knowing their role. By involving our team and laying out everyone's role in the process, everyone can work together to execute the goal and vision successfully they set out to achieve.

2. Make yourself approachable

Human connection is as important as knowing vision.

Our employees find empowerment in knowing that their company's leader is willing to have a genuine conversation with them.

3. Avoid communication roadblocks

How many times have you seen new ideas and strategies get lost in translation through top-down communications? A culture based on open communication empowers our employees to provide feedback on what they need to lead and succeed.

4. Believe in your employees

Have you noticed that the most productive employees usually know their key role in accomplishing the team's goal? Our philosophy is to hire the right people for the right position and get out of their way. By believing in their abilities, GIG succeeds.

5. Provide growth opportunities

People are constantly evolving. Providing growth opportunities is an essential part of our DNA. When we encourage our employees' professional development, we incentivize them to stay with us for the long term and create perpetual innovation and growth.

6. Encourage a work-life balance

But seriously, encourage it. By providing an environment that gives our employees the ability to recharge and connect with their family and friends, they are more engaged and productive when here.

7. Encourage mistakes

Albert Einstein once said, "A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new." Mistakes are a part of learning and growing as a person and as a professional. By providing room for our employees to stumble, in a controlled boundary, of course, they evolve quicker.

At GIG, we pride ourselves in believing in the power of people. It is, in fact, the overarching theme in our company's mission, vision, and values. By adopting these seven techniques, we will celebrate our employees and the company's continuing success for many years to come!
