How to Set Goals To End The Year Strong And Start The Next One Even Stronger

As 2023 comes to an end, you may be reflecting on the year and wondering, "where did it all go?" Was it filled with life-changing moments, or was it filled with abundance? If you're the type to take lessons you learned from this year and apply them to make next year better, here are some tips you can do right now to set yourself up for success.

If You Can Start It Today, Do It Today

At the start of every year, everyone is injected with a large dose of motivation and hope. All the goals that you had put off for the past 3-6 months suddenly feel possible, but here's the thing, you don't need a new year to start something new. You can start today! Learn that new skill you've been thinking about or get out of your comfort zone and meet new friends. Beginning now lets you get a head start on building actionable habits.

Think Ahead

If you have not thought of any goals you want to achieve next year, then begin thinking about them now. Ask yourself these four questions:

  • What are my long-term goals?

  • What small goals can I set in 2023 to help me achieve my larger goals?

  • What do I need to do to achieve my smaller goals?

  • How will I hold myself accountable?

These questions will get the wheels spinning in your mind, and by the time the new year comes along, you'll have a solid plan on how to start.

Accomplish One More Goal

The feeling of crossing a goal off your list is liberating. It feels good to accomplish something you have been thinking about for a while, and it feels even better to accomplish it under the wire - especially when you hadn't believed you could. Crossing goals off our lists fill our minds with dopamine and the belief that we can accomplish more goals. Increase your confidence levels for 2023 by completing one more goal this year.

Rest

As much as goals are about being proactive, it's equally important to rest and recuperate. Take a bit of time before the year is out to spend alone enjoying your own company, and be sure to do this without any burdens on your mind! Adequate rest is essential to your physical and mental healing, so make sure to soak up as much rest as possible. It's the holidays, after all!

You don't need a new year to become the best version of yourself, but it doesn't hurt! The key to starting the new year strong is to end the year strong.
