The beginning of every new year brings about a rush of optimism and resolutions. Learn a new skill. Close more deals. Save 50% of your income. Chances are, you made at least one of these goals at the beginning of 2022, and if you have accomplished your goal or stuck to a habit throughout the past ten months, then congratulations! You are the lucky few. However, studies have shown that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail, most of which by February. So, if you’re like the other 80% of us who have forgotten our goals, or haven’t found time to accomplish the goals you settled for the year, don’t worry, you’ve got two months left to turn it around, and this blog post is here to help.
Create a Plan and Set a Deadline
Planning and deadlines are daunting tasks, but trust me, it is one of the best ways to achieve your goals. Plans and deadlines keep you on track. They give you a clear direction on where you are going and remind you of everything you need to accomplish.
Start labeling your goals from easiest to hardest. Then in a calendar or planner, set the deadline for the most straightforward goal first, and for the more challenging goals, set the deadline at the end of the year. You will have time to work towards your most demanding goals while crossing off more manageable goals on the way to the finish line.
Reflect On Your Goals
At the beginning of the year, we tend to believe that we can do anything we want with the year to come, and this is true. So much can happen in a year. When you think about the goals you made at the beginning of the year, do they still reflect who you are and what you hope to accomplish in life overall?
Life happens, obstacles occur, and if you must scale down your goals by a peg or two so they are within reach or change them to align with your life goals, then do so! There’s no shame or guilt associated with rerouting.
Be Persistent
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is your success. Goals take time and patience to achieve, but no matter how big or how small of an improvement you make within yourself, as long as you make the conscious decision to work towards your goals every day, you’re making a difference.
Achieving your goals before the end of the year might not be easy, but it’s possible. With the right mindset and determination, once you complete your goal, you’re not just about ticking off a task on your to-do list. You’ve also proven to yourself that you are capable of self-discipline, grit, and passion, all of which are skills that contribute to both your personal and professional life of being a client representative.
We hope that these three tops we’ve described today can benefit your journey, and always remember you’re capable of doing amazing things. Set aside time and do anything you need to reconnect with your goals. Here at GIG, we believe in you.
